Ok so it’s Tuesday, but I have a newfound appreciation for the dreaded first day of the workweek. You see, I used to work Monday through Friday and my hubs Jeff works Tuesday through Sunday. So you ask when did we see each other? Um, just before we said goodnight. What a way to start a marriage right? Since our wedding in November 2009, I had been praying, wishing, and plotting ways to get out of working Mondays so I could spend some time with my man. Well, I got what I asked for. Maybe in a little different way than I had envisioned, but nonetheless I got my Mondays off…and 6 other days too. I’m a firm believer in everything happening for a reason, thats why when I lost my job I wasn’t worried. I had a dream. A dream to own my own business. A dream to be an artist. A dream to enjoy my marriage. A dream to be 100% happy with my life and my journey. So I guess I’m living the dream.
So back to my new favorite day of the week. Monday. In the last few weeks, I have discovered that Monday is the BEST day to go to see a movie. No lines, fresh popcorn and every seat in the house is empty. Mondays are great days for shopping. Even at Costco against the husband’s will. The Getty Villa is open on Monday. A Netflix Blu-Ray is always in the mailbox on Monday. Need I say more? AND while we’re out parading all over town, Ralph holds down the fort. Who could ask for more?
I’m sure this won’t be Ralph’s only cameo on the blog, so let me introduce him to you. Ralph (or the beagle boy) was adopted by Jeff’s parents 11 years ago and then we readopted him about a year ago. He’s almost a 16 years old! He spends most of his days sleeping…and thats about it. But we love our Ralphie!

I am 100% in photography mode now. The thesis is turned in. The day job is dunzo. The office is complete. S. Miller Photos is in full effect! Where is the champagne?!? I am so excited to REALLY get this show on the road. So the Shootout… the LA Photog Shootout. I may live in the Wild Wild West, but sorry I only shoot with my Canon. The Photog Shootout group held their first LA Shootout at the Ebell in Long Beach and it was such an amazing experience! First of all, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the photography community. I have yet to meet a mean photographer (knocking on wood). I have to admit I was a little nervous when I signed up because I had never even heard of this shootout thingy. But it was sooo worth it. Turns out it was a wedding themed workshop with all my Twitter friends and then some. I’m talking hobby shooters to some of the big shots. I am so grateful to all of the leads for being so open to sharing their secrets and techniques. They were so conscious of offering one on one assistance and encouraging us to step out of our comfort zones. I will definitely be attending another Shootout in the future! Oh, I almost forgot to mention the models who were absolutely stunning and troopers all day long! Here are some of my favorite shots from the day.
