I had made a decision to stop blogging. I convinced myself that blogs are on their way out and that I needed to focus more on social media. I convinced myself that people wanted fast in the moment updates a la Facebook and Twitter. So I took blogging out of my workflow for a couple of weeks and took up juggling instead. Well at least that’s what it felt like trying to keep several social media accounts constantly updated. That’s a job in itself! Well, I was once step away from ordering a red nose and taking my show on the road when I heard some interesting stories.
I didn’t really realize that my blog was making an impact until I stopped blogging. First of all, there were things I wanted to share with my readers that I just couldn’t articulate in 140 characters. Then at a bridal show people were asking about my blog. Another vendor even approached me to tell me she’s been following my blog and how she enjoys reading it! Finally, I had my family over for dinner and my aunt leaned over to tell me about how she was having a crummy day at work, and she found herself looking at my blog and how it brought up her spirits. At the same time I learned that my cousin and mom check my blog quite often too. Wow. I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve such compliments, but I do know one thing; I’m going to keep the blog alive as long as I can.
Here are some updated headshots of my cousin who clearly grew up when no one was looking.
